Minister's Application Process

In order to gain Minister's Credentials with the Pentecostal Church of God, you must complete an application process. This document will explain that process and give you access to the supplemental forms necessary to work your way through to completion of the application process. Step One: Application

Complete an Application Form. This form differs depending on your circumstances. New applicants must complete the Application for Minister's Credentials. Previous applicants must complete the Application for Reinstatement. Current Applicants desiring promotion to the next stage of credentialing must complete the Application for Promotion. You must thoughtfully consider and complete every question on the appropriate application form.

Applications must be reviewed and signed by your pastor and sectional presbyter, then delivered to the District Board along with all appropriate additional forms.

Additional Forms for Processing Minister's Credentials

The following forms are not required if you are applying for promotion.

• Background Investigation Consent Form - This form must be signed.

• Bankruptcy Questionnaire - This form must be completed if you have ever filed for bankruptcy.

• Beneficiary Form - This form must be completed for possible death benefits.

• Felony Questionnaire - This form must be completed if you have ever been convicted of a crime.

• Marriage Questionnaire - This form must be completed and delivered along with all required documentation for each divorce.

Step Two:  Processing Fees 

Required Fees for Processing Credentials

These fees are required to begin the credentialing process. They must be sent, in the form of a check or money order, along with your application and supplemental forms. All checks must be made out to the Pentecostal Church of God (PC/G). Other fees required throughout the process are subject to change.

• Credential Fee - $75.00 for the first three months

• Background Check Fee - $25.00

Step Three: Credential Levels

The Minister's Credentials are achieved in three steps: Exhorter, License, and Ordination. Below are the requirements for each step. For Licensing and Ordination, the required Ministry Study Series must be completed. These materials can be ordered from

Exhorter Credentials

The applicant must complete/test out of...

• Basic Bible Truth

• General Constitution & Bylaws

• Tennessee District Constitution & Bylaws

License Credentials

The applicant must complete/test out of Ministry Study Series I... (not necessary with a B.A. in Biblical Studies or Pastoral Ministry)

• Old Testament Survey I

• Old Testament Survey II

• New Testament Survey

• Basic Homiletics

• Basic Bible Truth (if not completed for Exhorter status)

• General Constitution & Bylaws (if not completed for Exhorter status)

Ordination

The applicant must complete/test out of Ministry Study Series II... (not necessary with a B.A. in Biblical Studies or Pastoral Ministry)

• How to Prepare Bible Sermons

• What the Bible says about the Holy Spirit

• Prevision of History

• Developing the Leader Within

Upon the completion of the application process, a date for an interview will be established with the Tennessee District Board.  Upon their recommendation, your application will be forwarded to the Overseeing Leadership of the Pentecostal Church of God for final approval.
